PASSIVATIONTREATMENTSFORCORROSION-RESISTANTSTEEL
ThisspecificationwasapprovedbytheAssistantAdministratorOfficeofFederalSupplyandServices,GeneralServicesAdministration,fortheuseofallFederalAgencies.1.SCOPEANDCLASSIFICATION
1.1Scope.Thisspecificationcoversthedifferenttypesofpassivationtreatmentsaswellasrecommendations,guidanceandprecautionsforcleaninganddescalingcorrosion-resistantparts,components,equipmentandsystems.
1.2Purpose.Thisspecificationcoversthemethodforcleaninganddescalingofstainlesssteelpartsandoutlinesthefinalcleaningstageorpassivationtreatmentsforuseonaustenitic,ferritic,martensiticandprecipitationhardeningcorrosionresistantsteels.Engineeringdrawingsandspecificationsshouldspecifyclassificationtype(passivationtreatmentwhichshouldDeusedinaccordancewith1.2.1.1.2.1Types.
