从小丘西行百二十步，隔篁(huáng)竹，闻水声，
Walking about 100 miles to the west from the small knoll, I heard the sound of streams behind bamboo forest.
如鸣佩（pèi)环，心乐(lè）之。
The sound seemed like sounds of collision of jade pendants and rings , which made me pleased.
伐竹取道，下见小潭，水尤清冽(liè)。
With a curiosity, I began to make my way by cutting down bamboos. Finally, I saw the pond with clear and cool water.
全石以为底
The bottom of the pond was made of stone.
近岸，卷(quán）石底以出，为坻（chí)，为屿（yǔ），为嵁（kān），为岩。
Stepping near to the pond, I saw various-shaped stones in the pond, forming different scenes.
青树翠蔓(màn)，蒙络(luò)摇缀(zhuì)，参（cēn）差（cī）披拂。
Green trees with its tied and prosperous branches were rolling in the wind.
潭中鱼可百许头，皆若空游无所依。
Looking upon the pond, I saw hundreds of fish in it, and they seemed to swim in the sky freely.
日光下彻，影布石上。
Their shadows reflected on the bottom of the pond under the sun.
佁（yǐ）然不动，俶（chù）尔远逝，往来翕（xī）忽。似与游者相乐（lè）。
For the first second, they were frozen in a place. The next second, they rushed out of frozen ices and swam into different directions, seeming to play jokes on me.
