The following information relates to the University of Melbourne result grades explanation. These result codes reflect the final mark for the subject, which incorporates all assessment components.
University of Melbourne Result Grades Explanation, from 2009
Subject Results: Standard Result Type
Used for all subjects except those marked on a Pass/Fail basis only

Used for subjects and these marked on a Pass/Fail basis only
Notes:
1. A GNS (Grade Not submitted) will appear on an academic transcript in cases where interim grades WXT (Witheld - Extension), WAF (Witheld - Assessment to be finalised) or MIS (Missing result) are used.
2. The S indicator is used, together with the final result, to indicate additional assessment has been awarded. The final result will appear on an academic transcript, however the S indicator will not appear.
3. The # sign on a subject indicates that it is marked on a PASS/FAIL basis (from 1978 onwards).
4. Successful completion of Honours courses usually requires a minimum grade of H3.
University of Melbourne Additional Grades Explanation, prior to 2009
Letter Grades: A, B, B1, B2, C, D, E, F Pass Grades are D and above. Note: Prior to 1993, a number of grading structures were in place. Some appeared similar to the current grade structure (see above), but the grade conversion did not necessarily correspond to the current grade structure.
Melbourne University Private Result Grades Explanation, 2000 - 2005 only
Note: Marks as well as grades are recorded on student's transcripts except for: ^ Temporary grades only. These will be replaced with the final mark and grade once it is returned. # No mark is recorded with these grades.
