1. Lead in
Ok, class. I am so sorry for a moment late for this lesson. Well, will you forgive me? Ok, thank you, my friendly students. You must be wondering why I was late. Yes? Ok, I’d like to make some explanations. You know it’s raining heavily outside, I met a heavy traffic jam on my way to school, that’s terrible, right? Ok, guys, do you know what other countries’ transport like? Today we are going to learn school transportation in the world. True north(板书)
2. Pre-reading
Class, I am wondering how much you know about transport tool. So let’s do a survey in your group. Ok? Ok. Guys you will work in your group and try to find out the advantage and disadvantage of each useful transportation tool. For example: I often go to school by bike, I think it’s much healthier than by bus. Got it? Ok, so now, please work in group, and try to find out as many as you can. Stop here! Let’s check out, who wants to be first volunteer?
Wow, so many of you. That’s great!
3. While-reading
Now, it’s time for reading. This time I have a question for you on the PowerPoint: How many areas are mentioned in the passage? So, please read the passage as quickly as you can and don’t forget to keep this question in your mind. Ready! Finished? Who can tell me the answer? Jenny, please, well done, three areas are mentioned in this passage, they are North America, China and Japan. Ok, my students, let’s move on. This time, I will read the passage for you. And I have prepared a task for you. Look, you will listen carefully and scan the answers of the true or false exercise. I believe you will like it very much. Here are some statements on the board. I’m going to read them for you:
1. In Japan, most students take buses to school.
2. In big cities in China, students usually ride bikes or take school buses.
Ok, time is over. Can you tell me your answers? What about the first sentence, is that true or false? Simon? Yes, it’s not true. Why? Exactly, most students in Japan take trains to school. Nice job! Sit down, please. How about the second one? Is that true? Yes, this sentence is correct. Sheldon, can you read it for us? You did a good job.
4. Post-reading
My smart students, according to this passage, can you change another way to review what we’ve learnt. Wow, I heard Lily said: make a report. I think it’s a good idea. Can you share how to play. Well. You said: “Six students in each group, then we will design a better way to get to school for our group members according to our distance from home to school, the school transportation he/she can take and the weather etc.” Perfect!!! I am amazed. Ok, go ahead, my lovely students. Eight minutes for you. Time is limited. Ok, which group wants to be the first one? This time, I will invite one representative from each group to make a report. Ok, Abby, I see you. Please come to the front and share your group work.
Abby said: “There are six classmates in our group. We all live far away from school. So we’d better go to and from school by bus or by subway. It depends on where we are. If it is rainy, we will get up earlier in order to get to school in time. ”Good choice, boys and girls, have you learnt the useful advice? Nice try, big hands for Abby’s group.
Group 2, who is your reporter? Ok, Mike, come on, don’t be shy, I believe you can. Ok, the other classmates are amazed by your report. Ok, go back to your seat. Thanks. Ok, next group.
