一只青蛙生活在一口废弃的浅井里，它对东海来的一只鳖夸耀说：“我真的很快乐！想外出的时候，一下子就能跳到井栏上；累了就回到井里，在残破的井壁边休息。我跳进井水中，水刚刚没过我的胳肢窝，托着我的下巴，我蹦啊跳啊，烂泥也只没过我的脚丫。看看周围那些虾蟹啊蝌蚪啊什么的，没有谁能比我快乐。而且这是我的地盘，我跳跳停停，逍遥自在。你到了这里，怎么不进来看看呢？”The Frog in the well
Once there was a frog living in a shallow well, it said proudly to a turtle from the east sea that it was so happy, because I can easily jump up to the land when I want to go out; I can have a rest on the broken wall; when I jump into the water, the water cann’t cover my head. Looking at the shrimp and the crab around, no one was happier than me. Since you have came here, why not come to have a look at my place?
The turtle’s right leg was stuck in the mud when the left foot didn’t get into the well. The turtle told the frog something about the sea. You can’t measure the width and the depth of the sea. The sea didn’t increase much when it rained more and didn’t decrease much when it was drought for several years.so I am the happiest living in the east sea.
The frog was astonished when it heard what the turtle said. 鳖的左脚还没有踏进浅井，右膝已经被卡住了。于是，它慢慢地退了回去，告诉青蛙关于海的事情：“即使用千里来计算，也说不出它的广阔；即使用千丈来测量，也算不出它的深度。大禹治水的时候，十年九涝，海水也没看出增多；商汤的时代，八年中倒有七年是干旱的，海水也没见减少。大海啊，时间长短对它的容量没有什么影响，旱涝也不能使海水涨落，这是我居住在东海里的最大快乐！ 青蛙听得惊呆了，觉得若有所失。
