IwouldliketoapplytodoaManagementdegree.HavingactedasManagingDirectoronaYoungEnterpriseTeamwhilstdoingmy‘AS'levels,Icameupwithinnovativeideasthatmadeaverysuccessfulcompany.HavingheldmanagementpositionswithinHumanResources,Operations,andFinance,Iquicklyrealisedthatpursuingamanagementdegreeatuniversitywouldbeidealforme.
AftermyGCSE's,IheldatemporaryjobasajuniorinanInsolvencypractice,inordertogainworkexperience.Havingtoworktotightdeadlinestaughtmehowtoworkindependentlyaspartofaprofessionalteam.Ilearntthatinbusiness,ifonepersonlacksproductivity,theneveryoneelsecansuffer,andalsohowtomotivateothersasameansofpreventingsuchissues.IusedtheskillslearnttoenhancemyroleastheManagingDirectorofmyyoungEnterprisecompany,particularlymethodsofmotivationanddelegation,andthesignificanceofbeingaccountableforothers.HavingspentnearlythreeyearsworkingparttimeinaHealthfoodshopalongsidemystudies,Idevelopedmycommunicationskills,withbothcolleaguesandcustomers,andprovedtobeatrustworthyemployee.
BeingappointedasDeputyHeadBoyinthesixthformwasagreathonourtome.Myskillsweregreatlyenhancedbyholdingthisposition,asIwouldoftenhavetolisten,andrespondtoissuesbroughtupbyfellowprefects,andstudentslowerdowntheschool.ThroughactivitiessuchasLunchduty,Ilearnttheworthofdifferentleadershipskills,andthatitisimportanttotreateveryoneasanindividualinordertogetresults.Iwasalwayskeentostayintotheeveningtohelpoutatschoolevents.
Socialisingisveryimportanttome,andIamalwayskeentomeetnewpeople.Ienjoytryingnewfoodstoincreasemyknowledgeofdifferentcultures,andmyculinaryskillswillproveveryusefulinindependentuniversitylife.Ienjoytravelling,andlearningaboutmodernhistory.HavingrecentlyreturnedfromPrague,Ivisitedaconcentrationcamp.Thiswasamovingexperienceforme,andsomethingIwillneverforget.Musicisoneofmybiggesthobbies,andIusemusictohelpmeunwindandreflectonthings.Iusetheinternettokeepupwithcurrentaffairsandsportsnews.
Ihavealwaysbeenakeensportsman,representingmyschoolinmanysportingactivities.Ienjoyrunning,particularlycompetinginsprintraces,butalsolongdistancerunningasameansofkeepingfit.Ialwaystrytogoforaruneveryevening,duringbreaksbetweenmyALevelstudies.IrepresentedmyschoolasakeenmemberofthedistrictandMaccabiGreatBritainathleticsteams,particularlyintherelay.Iformallyplayedtennisandtabletennisinnationalcompetitions,andmorerecentlyIhaveplayedinfootball,rugby,andcricketleaguesoutsideofschool.
Ibelievethatmyexperienceshavepreparedmeforindependentuniversitylife.MysocialskillstogetherwithmyambitiontosucceedinlifeprovemetobegoodcandidateforaManagementDegree.
