How do you use imagery to express that view?
When Chinese intent to express their viewpoint, they would make you think before you grasp their meaning, but the meaning is there, and put plainly enough, only tersely and very often indirectly, after the manner of proverbs. Don't be shocked when someone describes something they dislike with strong words, such as hate, awful, or terrible. It's just the American way of making a point. But in China，"Yes" is sometimes "No" instead of "Yes". "No" is always "Yes" instead of "No".
In addition，perhaps more interesting is that if a Chinese who express his point of view directly like the foreigner, he would be considered to be not sophisticated or a weird simpleton. Actually，the most essential point in Chinese philosophy of handling matters is ‘turn your tongue seven times before speaking’.
Therefore, it is difficult for a foreigner to understand Chinese traditional philosophy. But the key point is to keep balance and harmony, whether inside or outside your body.
