01、Thinking of You
When will the moon be clear and bright?
With a cup of wine in my hand, I ask the blue sky.
I don't know what season it would be in the heavens on this night.
I'd like to ride the wind to fly home.
Yet I fear the crystal and jade1 mansions are much too high and cold for me.
Dancing with my moon-lit shadow,It does not seem like the human world.
The moon rounds the red mansion Stoops to silk-pad doors, Shines upon the sleepless Bearing no grudge,Why does the moon tend to be full when people are apart? People may have sorrow or joy, be near or far apart,The moon may be dim or bright, wax or wane,This has been going on since the beginning of time.
May we all be blessed with longevity Though far apart, we are still able to share the beauty of the moon together.
Memorial to the Throne on His Expedition
The emperors of the Western Han chose their courtiers wisely, and their dynasty flourished. The emperors of the Eastern Han chose poorly, and they doomed the empire to ruin. Whenever the late Emperor discussed this problem with me, he lamented the failings of Emperors Huan and Ling.
I began as a common man, farming in my fields in Nanyang, doing what I could to survive in an age of chaos. I never had any interest in making a name for myself as a noble. The late Emperor was not ashamed to visit my cottage and seek my advice. Grateful for his regard, I responded to his appeal and threw myself into his service. Now twenty-one years have passed.
The late Emperor always appreciated my caution and, in his final days, entrusted me with his cause. Since that moment, I have been tormented day and night by the fear that I might let him down. That is why I crossed the Lu river at the height of summer and entered the wastelands beyond. Now the south has been subdued, and our forces are fully armed. I should lead our soldiers to conquer the northern heartland and attempt to remove the hateful traitors, restore the house of Han, and return it to the former capital. This is the way I mean to honor my debt to the late Emperor and fulfill my duty to you.
My only desire is to be permitted to drive out the traitors and restore the Han. If I let you down, punish my offense and report it to the spirit of the late Emperor. Your Majesty, consider your course of action carefully. Seeking out the good advice, and never forget the last words of the last Emperor. I depart now on a long expedition, and I will be forever grateful if you heed my advice.
Blinded by my own tears, I know not that I write.
Invitation to Wine
Do you not see the Yellow River come from the sky,
Rushing into the sea and ne'er come back?
Do you not see the mirrors bright in chambers high
Grieve o'er your snow-white hair
though once it was silk-black?
When hopes are won, oh!
drink your fill in high delight,
And never leave your wine-cup empty in moonlight!
Heaven has made us talents, we're not made in vain.
A thousand gold coins spent, more will turn up again.
Kill a cow, cook a sheep and let us merry be,
And drink three hundred cupfuls of wine in high glee!
Dear friends of mine,
Cheer up, cheer up!
I invite you to wine.
Do not put down your cup!
I will sing you a song, please hear,
O hear! lend me a willing ear!
What difference will rare and costly dishes make?
I only want to get drunk and never to wake.
How many great men
were forgotten through the ages?
But great drinkers are more famous
than sober sages.
The Prince of Poets feast'd in his palace at will,
Drank wine at ten thousand a cask
and laughed his fill.
A host should not complain of money he is short,
To drink with you I will sell things of any sort.
My fur coat worth a thousand coins of gold
And my flower-dappled horse may be sold
To buy good wine that
we may drown the woe age-old.
The Mourning Day
A drizzling rain falls like tears on the Mourning Day;
The mourner's heart is going to break on his way。
Where can a wine shop be found to drown his sad hours?
A cowherd points to a cot 'mid apricot flowers。
Cooing and Wooing
By riverside a pair
Of turtledoves are cooing;
There is a maiden fair
Whom a young man is wooing.
Water flows left and right
Of cresses here and there;
The youth yearns day and night
For the maiden so fair.
His yearning grows so strong,
He cannot fall asleep,
But tosses all night long,
So deep in love, so deep!
Now gather left and right
Cress long or short and tender!
O lute, play music light
For the fiancée so slender!
Feast friends at left and right
On cresses cooked tender!
O bells and drums, delight
The bride so sweet and slender!

Immortal Of the Magpie Bridge
Clouds float like works of art;
Stars shoot with grief at heart.
Across the Milky Way the Cowherd meets the Maid
When Autumn's Golden wind embraces Dew of Jades,
All the love scenes on earth, however many, fade
Their tender love flows like a stream;
This happy date seems but a dream.
Can they bear a separate homeward way?
If love between both sides can last for aye,
Why need they stay together night and day?
To the tune of Sheng Sheng Mang
Searching for the lost I’ve been
Only desolation and loneliness seen
How miserable and pathetic my mien
When a cold snap hits spring green
It’s hard for me to rest so keen
To drink a few cups of light wine I try
How could they let a strong night wind die?
I feel so sad when wild geese are flying by
Since they’re my old friends in the past sky
Faded flowers fall on the ground
Heaps of their ruins easily found
Who could pick them up all around?
Sitting alone by the window as bound
How could I greet night coming round?
On phoenix leaves the drizzles fall
Drop by drop till dusk don’t stop at all
Thus, how could a word of ‘sad’ call
Off the grievous fate that on me befall
Out the side of road shelter, grasses are green and wild
Flute wails at night, the setting sun in the western sky
Friends of mine have gone by, leaving missing and I
A cup of wine with best wishes waves you long goodbye
Out the side of road shelter, grasses are green and wild
Tell me when you will come back, come back anytime
Friends of mine have gone by, leaving missing and I
Short is life full of farewells, may your trip be fine
